About the Church
The Traupis Church of St Anne is a Neoclassical church with Neo-Baroque features, in the small town of Traupis, Anykščiai district, Diocese of Panevėžys. It was built in 1892 using brick masonry.
Construction of the church began in 1887 and was built on the initiative of the parish priest Juozapas Butvila. Bishop Gasparas Cirtautas consecrated it. The churchyard wall is of stone masonry, and several parish priests of Traupis are buried here.
The church was built on the site where the parish was established in 1515, when the first wooden church was built. A new church was built in 1730, and a parish school operated from 1777.
