About the Church
The Church of St Michael the Archangel is a magnificent monument of architecture and art, built in 1815 in Janapolė. The church has a rectangular-plan form with an apse and a small turret, and a two-tier wooden bell tower. The building is made of wood and is considered to be in Telšiai Deanery, in Samogitia. The church was newly built in 1763, when the parish was also established. Father Jonas Paliukas, who lived at this church, was arrested and imprisoned for 6 years in Siberia.
