About the Church
The Church of the Holy Family in Giraitė is the spiritual centre being built for a young parish situated in the village of Giraitė, in Užliedžiai eldership, Kaunas district. The new Parish of the Holy Family was established by decree of the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kaunas Kęstutis Kėvalas on 24 June 2022, and the priest Tomas Trečiokas was appointed its first parish priest.
The parish brings together the faithful of the fast-growing settlements of Giraitė, Užliedžiai and the surrounding area. In December 2022 an opening celebration of parish activity was held on the plot allocated for the church's construction, by Šventosios Šeimos Street, and in 2024, on the feast of St Joseph, Archbishop Kęstutis Kėvalas blessed the foundations of the future church.
Although the permanent house of prayer is still under construction, the community already exists – gathering for common prayer, uniting around the values of family and faith, and shaping the future of the new shrine.
