About the Church
The Church of the Holy Trinity in Suntaži (Suntažu Vissvētās Trīsvienības Romas katoļu baznīca) is a Roman Catholic church in the small town of Suntaži, in Ogre Municipality, in the Vidzeme region.
Construction of the church began in 1996 on the initiative of the local resident Jānis Milleris, was interrupted for a time, and resumed in 2006. The church was consecrated in 2009, with Cardinal Jānis Pujāts in attendance. The finest feature of the interior is an altar created in the spirit of French Baroque.
The church holds an old bell that for more than two centuries called the faithful of Ilūkste to services. The parish belongs to the Vidzeme Deanery of the Riga Archdiocese and is an important gathering place for the local Catholic community.
