About the Church

The Miroslavas Holy Trinity Church stands in the village of Miroslavas, 2 km southwest of Alytus. It was built in 1921 and has elements of Neoclassicist and Neo-Baroque architecture. The parish was established in 1719 with the building of a wooden church, and later, in 1744, a new church was built. Over time the church underwent several renovations, including the addition of two chapels in 1897 by Antanas Radzinskas. During the First World War the church was destroyed, in 1914, and rebuilt between 1918 and 1929 by Juozapas Lelešius. The church has a double tower and a three-part apse, with a stone wall surrounding the churchyard.
