About the Church
The Church of the Holy Trinity in Kuldīga stands in the picturesque old town of Kuldīga, which is included on the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is one of the oldest and most valuable Catholic churches in Courland.
The church was built in 1640, when the King of Poland confirmed Duke Jacob as heir to the throne of the Duchy of Courland. Its exterior is modest, influenced by the Italian Renaissance, while the interior is richly decorated with sculptures and ornamentation.
To this day the church serves the city's Catholic community, is an important feature of the old town of Kuldīga — a protected cultural heritage site — and draws many visitors.
