About the Church
The Church of St Dominic in Liepāja belongs to the Dominican monastery (the Order of Preachers) and stands on Jelgavas Street in Liepāja. It is one of the city's younger Catholic churches.
The Dominican monastery in Liepāja was founded in 1996, and its first buildings opened in 1998. Construction of the church itself, to the design of the architect A. Kokinas, began in 2003; the parish was officially established in 2004.
It is a masonry church of modern architecture, where services are held daily. The Dominican community here is responsible for pastoral care, preaching and spiritual life, continuing the order's tradition of preaching in Courland.
