About the Church
The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Scapular (Roman Catholic) in Andrupene stands in the village of Andrupene, in the Krāslava municipality, Latgale. It belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
The local Catholic community has been known since 1718; wooden churches stood here previously. The present masonry church was built in 1849–1850 at the expense of Ignacy Szadurski and consecrated in September 1850. The church was renovated in 1990.
It is a rectangular-plan masonry church with cylindrical vaults and a small turret, about 28 metres long. Inside are three stone altars, the central one bearing an image of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary; a bell tower stands in the churchyard.
