About the Church
The Church of St Jerome in Okra stands in the village of Vecokra, in the Andrupene civil parish, Krāslava municipality, Latgale. It is a small wooden Catholic church.
The wooden church was built in 1819, having been moved from Jaunokra to Vecokra, to the old cemetery. Over time it was abandoned and closed in 1889, but in 1896–1897 the Krāslava craftsman Kozlovskis rebuilt it; the church was consecrated by dean Kazimieras Lušpinis. It is a single-nave log church, about 8 metres long and 6 metres wide, with a brick bell tower at the entrance. In the building's basement, the burial vaults of the Skirku family survive, with four coffins, holding the status of a state-protected art monument.
