About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, in Baldone is a small Catholic shrine in the small town of Baldone, south of Riga, known for its old health-resort traditions. The community belongs to the Archdiocese of Riga.
The parish was officially established in 1998, and shortly afterwards a small plot of land was acquired with a modest single-storey masonry house, which was adapted for services. The church is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church.
Although the Catholic community of Baldone is small, it regularly gathers for Sunday Mass and maintains a living fellowship of faith in this historically Lutheran region.
