About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Jaunpiebalga is a small Catholic shrine in the Vidzeme uplands, in the small town of Jaunpiebalga, on the upper reaches of the Gauja. The area has long been known as a cradle of Latvian culture and literature, but Lutherans made up the majority of its inhabitants, so the Catholic community here has always been small.
