About the Church
The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sigulda (Siguldas Jēzus Sirds Romas katoļu baznīca) is a Roman Catholic church in the town of Sigulda, near the famous Gauja National Park, in Vidzeme.
The church was built from 1995 to a design by the architect Maija Krastinia and was consecrated on 22 September 1996. It is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus; the high altar holds a corresponding painting, a copy of a work by the artist Šėnbergas.
Thanks to its fine acoustics, the church often hosts concerts of various musical styles, so it is part of the cultural life not only of the parish but of the whole town and its visitors.
