About the Church
The Batakiai Church of St Anne is a wooden church built in 1991 in the small town of Batakiai, in the Diocese of Telšiai, Tauragė Deanery. The church has a churchyard chapel, a bell tower and a new structure. Batakiai is renowned for its St Anne feast (atlaidai). The first wooden church was built in 1509, and the present church is rectangular in plan, single-naved, with a small porch. The church has been given the remains of the authentic foundations and remnants of the old bell tower. On the high altar is a painting of St Anne and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
