About the Church
The Chapel of St Ansgar in Kaukolikai is in the village of Kaukolikai, in the Skuodas district, in the Aleksandrija eldership – on the north-western edge of Samogitia. The chapel is fitted out in the village's former community centre.
The church was consecrated on 5 June 2003 by the Bishop of Telšiai, Jonas Boruta SJ. Its unusual dedication commemorates St Ansgar (c. 801–865) – the Apostle of the North, one of the first missionaries associated with the baptism of the Baltic lands.
The chapel belongs to the Parish of St John the Baptist in Šačiai and to the Skuodas Deanery of the Diocese of Telšiai; Holy Mass is celebrated here on Sundays.
