About the Church
The Pagramantis Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a church of vernacular architectural forms, built in 1774. The church complex includes a bell tower, a churchyard fence with wayside chapels, and presbytery buildings. The church stands on the stony left bank, by the Šilalė–Tauragė road. It is a monument of the Pagramantis Regional Park and the Akmena Landscape Reserve. The first repair works at the church were carried out while Father Radvilavičius was serving there, and in 1791 it was consecrated. The building contains three wooden altars with carvings, a balustrade in front of the high altar, a pulpit, kneelers, confessionals, and an organ loft with an instrument. The bell tower is rectangular in plan, of two storeys. Two side altars are fitted: the left one "of St Anthony of Padua", the right one "of the Crucified Christ".
