About the Church
The Žygaičiai Church of Sts Peter and Paul, Apostles, was built in 1863; it has features of Romanesque Revival architecture and is a hall church with a rectangular plan and a small turret. Inside there is an ensemble of three masonry altars and decoration created in the second half of the 19th century. The church tower holds two bronze bells – one cast in 1772, the other in 1875 in Warsaw. The churchyard wall is of openwork masonry. Recorded in the church's history is the effort of parish priest Vincentas Norvaišas to build the present masonry church and establish the parish.
