About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Dobele is a shrine of the Diocese of Jelgava in the town of Dobele, in Semigallia.
The first Catholic services in Dobele began to be held as early as the fourth decade of the 20th century, but a separate church only arose after Latvia regained its independence. The shrine was built in 1997–2003 to a design by the architects J. Kukša and I. Kārkliņš, and was solemnly consecrated in September 2003.
The modern-architecture red-brick building is designed so that the church, the presbytery and the auxiliary premises are joined into a single complex; the tower reaches a height of about 34 metres. The church is the centre of life for the Dobele Deanery and the local Catholic community.
