About the Church
The Church of St John the Baptist at Feimaņi stands in the settlement of Feimaņi, in the Rēzekne district, in the Latgale region. It belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
A wooden Catholic church operated here even before the Reformation. The Korff family, who held Feimaņi, converted to Lutheranism, and the building served the Lutherans until 1708, when the Jesuits returned it to the Catholics. The present wooden church was built on the site of the old one in 1756–1760, and in 1760 Bishop Daugiala consecrated it in honour of St John the Baptist.
It is a single-aisled wooden church of quasi-basilican composition, about 30 metres long, with two towers and four bells. Inside are three altars with 18th–19th-century wood carving and paintings, an organ and crystal chandeliers; some of the furnishings are protected as state cultural heritage.
