About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Apostles Simon and Jude Thaddeus in Prezma stands in the settlement of Prezma, in the Rēzekne region, in Latgale, and belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
The first wooden church here was built in 1781 on the land of the Soltan manor, but was demolished in 1858. The present masonry church of red brick and fieldstone was built in 1859 with funds from Vladislav and Oktavija Soltan, and it was consecrated in 1897 by Bishop Ferdinand A. Symon.
It is a single-aisled church with two tall towers; the building is about 25 metres long and 15 metres wide, and is enclosed by a red-brick wall. The church is a state-protected architectural monument and still gathers the local Catholic community.
