About the Church

The Roman Catholic Church of St Agatha in Ludvikova stands in the village of Ludvikova, in the Skaista civil parish, Krāslava Municipality, Latgale, on the southern shore of Lake Ižiūna. It belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.

The first church here was built in 1925 through the efforts of the priest Antonas Olševskis, but in 1962 it was demolished owing to disrepair, and the parish ceased to function. After Latvia regained its independence, the community was revived.

At present the church is fitted out in an adapted former school building; the parish has about 200 faithful. Its most important feasts are the parish feasts (atlaidai) of St Agatha and Our Lady of Sorrows.
