About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of St Anthony in Skaista stands in the settlement of Skaista, in south-eastern Latgale, in the Krāslava region, and belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
The earlier wooden church (built in 1778 or 1788) was moved to the settlement of Geibi in 1914, and burned down during the First World War. The present church was rebuilt on the same site in 1920–1921 through the efforts of Fr Šiksnelis.
It is a wooden log church on a cruciform plan: a central nave about 10 metres high is flanked by two lower side aisles, the windows are square, above the entrance rises a low square tower with an iron cross, and the building is roofed with galvanised sheet metal. The church gathers the local Catholic community.
