About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of Birzgale is a place of prayer for a small Catholic community in the settlement of Birzgale, south of the Dauguva, near Ķegums. The community belongs to the Archdiocese of Riga.
Like many Catholic parishes on the border of Vidzeme and Semigallia, the community of Birzgale is small – in this historically Lutheran region Catholics form a minority. The local faithful gather for communal prayer, maintaining the Catholic tradition in their area.
