About the Church
The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Venta stands in the small town of Venta, in Akmenė district. This young church is often called Lithuania's millennium church, as it was the only one built in the country in 2009.
The parish was established in 1991, and services were initially held in a former kindergarten. The foundations of the church were begun in 2004, and the masonry building was raised in 2009. The main benefactors were the family of the businessman Ivanas Paleičikas.
The church is built of white brick, its plan is rectangular, with a projecting tower and a three-sided apse. The bell was brought from Germany by priest Anupras Gauronskas. Beside the church lies the special "Stone of Mary" – a rare granulite boulder with granite veins and garnet crystals, found near the village of Tilžė.
