About the Church
Alksninė Church of the Transfiguration of Christ was built of plastered masonry in 1938, and is a Historicist building without a modernist pediment. The church has a rectangular plan with a three-sided apse, without towers. In the interior, the influence of many architectural styles can be found. Interestingly, the building was constructed during the war at the urging of the Nazi occupation administration, using building rubble left over from battles. This church is served by the parish priest of Bartninkai Parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.
