About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of St John the Baptist in Brunava is a wooden shrine of the Diocese of Jelgava in the settlement of Brunava, in the Bauska area, near the border with Lithuania.
The church was built in 1773 through the efforts of Margarita, wife of Colonel Brunavas. In 1897–1900 it was rebuilt and enlarged through the efforts of the parish priest Kazimieras Jasenas, with two towers about 15 metres high added.
It is a wooden building with a tin roof, still serving the local Catholic community today and serving the faithful of the surrounding villages.
