About the Church
The Church of Sts Peter and Paul at Rubeņi stands in the centre of Rubene eldership, in Jēkabpils Municipality, in the region of Selonia. It belongs to the Diocese of Jelgava.
The first wooden church was built in 1759 in honour of Sts Peter and Paul by the Jesuits. The present fieldstone-masonry church was raised in 1893 through the efforts of the priest Adomas Dobkevičius.
The church was built in a cross-plan form with a single tower; inside is a three-aisled space with three altars. The church remains a house of prayer for the local parish, where services are held once a week.
