About the Church
The Church of St Michael the Archangel in Bukonys, built in 1829 in the village of Bukonys, Jonava district, is a towerless church in the Classicist style. It no longer has its wooden bell tower with two bells weighing 110 and 80 pounds, but it had three altars. The church's interior has been renovated several times, and in recent years the facade, foundations and interior spaces have been repaired. The churchyard fence is of stone masonry, and in front of the church stand plastered churchyard gates with two arched openings and niches. A memorial to local people, volunteers of the Independence Wars and Knights of the Cross of Vytis has been erected in the churchyard.
