About the Church
The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kulva was built in masonry residential buildings in 1925. The church stands beside road 232, Vilijampolė–Žeimiai–Šėta, and belongs to the Jonava Deanery. The first wooden chapel was built at the beginning of the 16th century, and the manor lords of Kulva, having converted to the Reformation, gave it to the Evangelical Reformed. The chapel belonged to Catholics from 1647, and in 1782 it became a filial church. During the Second World War the masonry church burned down, but the bell tower and chancel survived. At present the foundations of the main building are preserved under a small roof, and the bell tower is still in use. The church is a fine example of Lithuania's cultural and architectural heritage.
