About the Church
The Roman Catholic Chapel of St Adrian in Šķēde is in the settlement of Šķēde, in the Lauciene civil parish near Talsi, in northern Courland. This small chapel of the Liepāja Diocese is dedicated to St Adrian and serves a small local Catholic community.
The chapel was set up during the revival period, when Catholic communities were re-forming in the villages of Courland after the Soviet era; its establishment is linked to an initiative of the Order of Malta's relief service. Services are held here once a month, when a priest comes, and the modest church remains an important centre of faith for the small village community.
