About the Church
The Roman Catholic Chapel of St Anthony in Lauciene is in the settlement of Lauciene, near Talsi, in northern Courland. This chapel of the Liepāja Diocese is dedicated to St Anthony and stands in the local cemetery.
The chapel was built in 1946 – at the start of the Soviet era, when new, modest Catholic churches were still being established in Courland. It was later renovated thanks to benefactors and builders, and reconsecrated. The small community of Lauciene gathers for prayer in this quiet cemetery chapel.
