About the Church
The Inkūnai Church of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn is a church in the village of Inkūnai, 18 km north of Anykščiai, Anykščiai district, Diocese of Panevėžys. The church was built in 1942 using local materials and vernacular architectural forms.
The church's history began in 1939, when services began to be held in a chapel set up in the house of Angelė Stukaitė-Šukienė, and the Inkūnai parish began to take shape. The first parish priest was Jonas Uogintas (1940–1944). The present wooden church was built in 1941–1942 to a design by the engineer Pranciškus Markūnas.
The church has a rectangular plan and a single tower, with a lower apse and sacristy, and has 3 altars. The churchyard wall is of metal.
