About the Church
The Church of St Michael the Archangel in Viešintos is in the Diocese of Panevėžys, in Anykščiai district. It is a Gothic Revival church, built in 1906 in the small town of Viešintos.
In 1787 the church was given 6 valakai of land, and a parish was established in 1794. The present masonry church was built in 1902–1906, through the efforts of the parish priest Jurgis Rupka. The interior of the church was painted in 1940 on the initiative of Petras Liepa, who was parish priest in Viešintos in 1936–1945.
The church has a cruciform plan and a single tower, which is 55 m high. The churchyard wall is of stone masonry. Buried in the church is the Viešintos parish priest Povilas Paškevičius (1892–1981).
