About the Church
The Debeikiai Church of St John the Baptist is in the Diocese of Panevėžys, Anykščiai district. It was built in 1913 and is in the Gothic Revival style. The first church on this site was mentioned in 1760, and the present masonry church was built in 1906–1913. The church is noted for its organ and is a monument of art. One of its notable figures was the priest Kazimieras Mikelinskas, who was parish priest here in 1920–1947 and who, after exile in Siberia, returned and was buried in this church's churchyard.
