About the Church
The Church of the Holy Trinity in Balvi (Roman Catholic) stands in the town of Balvi, Latgale. It belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
The first wooden church here was built around 1769, with the support of Hilzen, the owner of the Viļaka manor. The present masonry church was built in the time of Fr Mārtiņš Simanovskis, and it was consecrated in 1797 by Bishop Jānis Benislavskis.
It is an octagonal, single-nave church with a dome over the central part and two facade towers. The building is protected as a cultural monument of national significance.
