About the Church
The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus at Bikava (Gaigalava) stands in the settlement of Gaigalava, in the historic Bikava manor area, in the Rēzekne district, in the Latgale region. It belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
The church is thought to have been built around 1825 at the expense of the landowner Stanislovas Benislavskis. It is the centre of the local Catholic community's spiritual life, and is especially crowded each year during the parish feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
