About the Church

The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Strūžāni is in the settlement of Strūžāni, in the Rēzekne municipality, in Latgale. The wooden church belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona and is dedicated to the Holy Trinity.

The first wooden church on this site was built in 1780 through the efforts of Dominykas de Riksas, but it burned down in 1954. The present wooden church was rebuilt in 1958 by the parish priest of Bykava, P. Vucinis, and consecrated by Bishop Pēteris Strods. It is a three-aisled, towerless wooden building about 21 metres long and 10.5 metres wide.

Inside the church stand three wooden altars with religious paintings, among them images of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Strūžāni church remains a place of prayer for the local Catholic community.
