About the Church

The Church of the Holy Apostles Simon and Jude at Dricāni stands in the settlement of Dricāni, in the Rēzekne district, in the Latgale region. It belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.

A wooden chapel was built here in 1779 and served for about 80 years. The present masonry church was built in 1859 at the expense of Baroness Manteufel and Katrina Uljanovska; in October of the same year the parish priest K. Tarvidas consecrated it in honour of the Apostles Simon and Jude.

It is a two-towered, single-aisled masonry church with late Classicist features, about 15 metres long. Inside are three ornate altars with wood carving of a Gothic character, two 19th-century wooden crucifixes and a feretron (processional icon). The church is protected as a cultural monument.
