About the Church
The Church of Sts Peter and Paul the Apostles in Jezupova (Juzefova) stands in the Naujene civil parish, Augšdaugava municipality, Latgale. A chapel is recorded here as early as before 1685.
In 1782, on the initiative of Stanislovas Šadurskis, a wooden church was built here, but it burned down in 1944. Work on a new masonry church, built of dressed fieldstone, began in 1934 and was finished in 1961, but the completed building was confiscated and turned into a club. The church was returned to the parish in 1989; it was consecrated on 27 December of that same year, and the interior was renovated in 1990.
