About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity in Krustpils stands in the Krustpils part of the city of Jēkabpils, on the Daugava, on the historical border between Selonia and Latgale. It belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
The parish was established in 1997 to serve about 2,000 local Catholics, since the old church of Jēkabpils on the other bank of the Daugava could no longer accommodate all the faithful, especially during the parish feast. Construction of the new church began in May 2000, and on 29 August 2004 the church was consecrated in honour of the Most Holy Trinity.
The yellow-brick church was built to a design by the architect Ilga Tretjakova; it is adorned with pilasters and a 25-metre tower, though the building is deliberately modest, without elaborate decoration. Inside are three altars and a chapel dedicated to Mary with a copy of the painting of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
