About the Church
The Church of Our Lady of the Scapular in Mežvidži stands at the centre of the Mežvidži settlement, Ludza municipality, Latgale. It is a small wooden Catholic church.
The wooden church was built in 1935 on land donated for the house of prayer by Jadviga Žeigurė. It is a single-nave log building with one tower and a sheet-metal roof, about 8 metres long and 8 metres wide. Inside can be seen a statue of Mary, Queen of the Earth, and a painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus by the artist Mariana Peilāne; the church's reliquary has the status of a state-protected art monument. The parish belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
