About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Archangel Michael in Zosna is a small wooden church in the Zosna civil parish, in the Rēzekne municipality, in Rāzna National Park, in Latgale. The church belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona and is dedicated to the holy Archangel Michael.
The log-built church on a stone foundation was built in 1800 on the land of the former Zosna Manor, from funds collected by the people. In 1882 it was renovated and extended by five metres, and a small bell tower and organ choir were added. It is a modest single-nave building only about 10 metres long and 7 metres wide, with a small square tower topped by a wrought-iron cross; the church is enclosed by a stone wall with an arched gate and three small towers.
The Zosna church is one of the smallest wooden churches in Latgale and the oldest church in Rāzna National Park; it is listed among the state-protected architectural monuments and remains a place of prayer for local Catholics.
