About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Pušmucova stands in the settlement of Pušmucova, in the Ludza region, in Latgale, and belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
The first wooden church here was built at the end of the 18th century with funds from the landowner Ksaver Šadurski, and was consecrated in 1805. Construction of the present masonry church of plastered fieldstone began in 1850–1852, led by Domenico Paracco, son of the Italian architect who designed the nearby church in Krāslava; the building was rebuilt in 1876, and it was consecrated in 1897 by Bishop Symon.
It is a single-aisled church with two towers holding three bells; the building is 25.6 metres long and 12.8 metres wide, and is enclosed by a stone wall. Inside is a pneumatic organ and three stone altars with religious paintings.
