About the Church
The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Ruskulova stands in the settlement of Ruskulova, in the Kūkova area, in north-eastern Latgale, and belongs to the Diocese of Rēzekne–Aglona.
The wooden church – one of the older wooden churches of Latgale – originally stood in Baltinava, and was later moved and rebuilt in Kūkova through the efforts of Fr Izidors Livčāns; the shape of the towers was changed during the rebuilding. The church was completed in 1933 and consecrated on 26 October 1935.
It is a single-aisled wooden church with two modest square towers adorned with iron crosses; the building is 28 metres long, 14 metres wide and 10 metres high. The church serves several parish cemeteries and gathers the local Catholic community.
