About the Church
The parish of the Three-Handed Mother of God — a Ukrainian Greek Catholic parish — is in the Old Town of Tallinn, at Laboratooriumi Street 22, by the city's defensive wall. The community was founded in 1991 with the blessing of Volodymyr Sterniuk, Metropolitan of Kyiv–Halych; in 1994 it leased a chapel from the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church, and in 1998 it purchased the plot.
At the end of 1997 the church was destroyed by fire — an investigation was opened into suspected arson. The rebuilt church was consecrated on 14 October 2000 in honour of the Three-Handed Mother of God by Archbishop Lubomyr Husar. The iconostasis was painted by the Lviv artist Petro Humeniuk, and the interior was fitted out by Anatolijus Liutchuk.
It is the only Greek Catholic shrine in northern Estonia; the church also houses the "Labora" monastic school of arts and the Ukrainian Cultural Centre.
