About the Church
According to the information available, the parish of St Anthony of Padua in Rukai is a Catholic parish, situated in the village of Rukai, 8 km northwest of Pagėgiai, by the Šilutė–Pagėgiai road, at the confluence of the Eisra and the Kamona. It was built in 1886 of brick masonry. The parish's faithful do not use their own house of prayer, but use the premises of the Rukai Evangelical Lutheran church under a signed agreement. The Catholic parish maintains and repairs the church, and coordinates its service schedule with the Evangelical Lutheran community. Prayers of both denominations are heard in the church. The Catholic parish in Rukai has more than 2,000 faithful, while the Evangelical Lutheran faithful number only 48.
