About the Church
The parish of St James the Apostle in Kaunas brings together the faithful of the left bank of the Nemunas, Freda and neighbouring parts of the city of Kaunas – Aukštoji Freda and Naujoji Freda, the small town of Freda, Julijanava, Seniava and other surrounding areas. The parish belongs to the Aleksotas Deanery of the Diocese of Vilkaviškis.
A dedicated Church of St James the Apostle is still only at the design stage, so the parish does not yet have a permanent church; its registered address is Antakalnio g. 35, near the old church of Aleksotas. The territory borders the parishes of Aleksotas, Aukštoji Panemunė, Garliava, Rokai and Tabariškės, as well as the Archdiocese of Kaunas.
It is a young, still-developing community whose pastoral life and prayer are centred on awaiting the construction of a new church.
