About the Church
The Aukštoji Panemunė Church of the Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands in Kaunas, in Aukštoji Panemunė, at the mouth of the Sėmena. Built in 1859, it is in the Neo-Renaissance style. The church has wooden columns, a rectangular plan, no tower, and side sacristies. The interior is divided into three naves. The chancel is separated by a triumphal arch. The church also runs the Viršužiglis chapel and the chapel of the Society of St Pius X (Catholic traditionalists).
