About the Church
The Šlienava Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a wooden church in Kaunas district, built in 1713, whose interior has three naves and unusual altars. The high altar formerly stood in Kaunas Cathedral. Construction of the church's chapel began in 1709, and in 1942–1944 construction began on what would become the nave section of the church. The church has a bell tower, and parish buildings housing a folk-life and sacred art museum were built in the churchyard.
