About the Church
The Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Šeštokai stands in the small town of Šeštokai, Lazdijai district, near the Kaunas–Suwałki railway line and the well-known Šeštokai station.
The parish here was established in 1921, when it was separated from parts of the parishes of Krosna and Rudamina; Kajetonas Zdančius became the first parish priest. At first services were held even in the railway station building, and later in the barn of the presbytery.
The present wooden church was built in 1922–1924 to a design by the engineer J. Vitembergas. The church, cross-shaped with two towers, has a main nave 21.5 metres long, and the churchyard is enclosed by a wooden fence. Through the efforts of parish priest Bronius Vaišnora, after 1928 the craftsman Soroka of Pazapsiai installed three new altars.
