About the Church
The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, at Eglaine is a Roman Catholic church in the village of Eglaine, in Augšdaugava Municipality, close to the border with Lithuania and the Eglaine railway station. The church belongs to the Diocese of Jelgava.
The tradition of Catholic prayer in this area goes back to the days of a chapel that belonged to the manor; the old chapel was destroyed during the First World War. The present church serves a small but living community of local believers on the border.
